Proofreading
For your convenience, revisions are marked up in a PDF. This makes it easier to share feedback with clients and colleagues. Here is an example of a PDF marked up with edits.
Proofreader’s Checklist
- Spelling errors not caught by a spell-checker.
- Incorrect or inconsistent punctuation, grammar and capitalization.
- Improper use of logos, registered trademarks and brand standards.
- Fact-checking to confirm phone numbers, addresses, dates, URLs, etc.
- Legal copy, mice type and reference symbols coincide with content.
- Ensure consistency in design: colour, fonts, images, leading, etc.
- Titles, lists, tables and abbreviations adhere to global styles.
A consultation is recommended for new clients to establish their requirements for the following:
- Appropriate level of editing and/or proofreading
- The extent of fact-checking to be applied
- Level of attention to design, layout and typography
- Creation of a style guide
Editing
An initial review of the manuscript will be completed and followed up with a phone consultation, prior to making revisions.
Revisions are made in your Word document using track changes.
